The training scenarios planned for this years conference are designed to be realistic and negotiator driven. While there is no “one” way to handle a negotiated situation, these scenarios allow the negotiator(s) to feel their way through the process by using good, sound negotiation principles. An after action review (AAR) will be conducted for each scenario to ensure that all aspects of learning are gleaned from each situation. Also, an element of the AAR will include the tactical aspects of the scenario. Each team participating in the scenarios will have the opportunity to be the “Negotiator” and the role player. The aspect of being the role player gives the team the perspective of what it’s like on the other end of the phone. Teams/scenarios will be assigned on the day prior to the Scenario day, so everyone will know where they are going and who they will be working with prior to execution of training.
